Many web sites try to create participation in communities through ones computer but do little more than encourage staring at a screen for hours.

We’d like to change that.

The concept is simple, really. Connect folks with events to attend and other people to enjoy them with.

Combining elements of localization and social networking, we plan to encourage participation in the outside world by delivering event listings to our users, targeted towards their location and interests they told us about when they joined the what'sup community.

Objectives

  1. Automatically deliver to our community members, details on events which they may be interested in attending based on their location and interests.
  2. Build a strong community through enabling users to tag and comment on events, and forge relationships with others interested in similar types of events.
  3. Allow extension by community members through publishing of public web services and open APIs.
